Local Veterinarian and Rancher announces candidacy for House District 54
Dr. Brad Buckley, a Killeen veterinarian and Salado rancher, has announced his candidacy as a Republican for House District 54.
When asked why he chose to run for office, Dr. Buckley stated “I feel as though I am answering a call from my community to seek the House District 54 seat. The grassroots have asked, and I’m honored to answer.”
Dr. Brad Buckley, a Youngsport native, is a 1985 graduate of Ellison High School and a successful small business owner in Killeen. Dr. Buckley’s roots run deep in the community. His grandfather, Leo Buckley, is the legendary Killeen High School football coach and namesake of Killeen ISD’s football stadium. His grandmother, Annie Roe Buckley, taught many students in Killeen ISD, as did his mother, Lolly Buckley. It is a tradition that his wife, Susan Buckley, now continues as the principal of Killeen High School. Dr. Buckley has made it a priority to invest in his community by serving on the Killeen ISD Board of Trustees, as Chairman of the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce, and as a board member of Peaceable Kingdom Retreat for Children. Dr. Buckley currently serves as co-chair for the 14 Forward Economic Development Campaign. Additionally, Brad is the Regional Director for the National Cutting Horse Association with a deep passion for horses, livestock, and the rural lifestyle. He and his wife Susan live on their family ranch in Salado. Brad and Susan are most proud of their three children, Emily, Erin, and Bo, who continue the family tradition in Killeen ISD schools and have graduated from, currently attend, or plan to attend Texas A&M University.
