Rep. Buckley Highlights $2.65 million in Veterans' Assistance Grants for Bell and Lampasas Counties
AUSTIN, TX -- State Representative Brad Buckley (R-Salado) is excited to share good news out of the Texas Veterans Commission regarding Veterans' Assistance grants for Bell and Lampasas Counties.
Today, the Texas Veterans Commission publically announced Veterans' Assistance grants for 2019-2020 to 92 organizations statewide totaling $23.34 million. Of these funds, 12 organizations in Bell and Lampasas counties are slated to receive $2.65 million in four grant categories: General Assistance, Housing 4 Texas Heroes, Veterans Mental Health, and Veterans Treatment Courts. Another 11 statewide organizations that provide services in House District 54 will receive $2.9 million in additional grants.
Upon hearing the news, Buckley expressed his sincere thanks to the Texas Veterans Commission for their investment in the lives and health of Texas' veteran community. "Veterans are the backbone of our Central Texas communities, and I am thankful that our military heroes not only served our nation honorably, but also chose to make this place their home."
The Texas Veterans Commission has an extensive history of providing grants to third party and non-profit organizations that support working with veterans throughout Texas, and has given over $114 million and served over 250,000 veterans since 2009.
Rep. Brad Buckley is a first-term legislator from Salado, Texas, and represents part of Bell County and all of Lampasas County in Central Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University, and is a local veterinarian in Killeen, Texas. Dr. Buckley is a rancher, raises and trains cutting horses, proud husband, and father to three amazing children, all of whom are Aggies.
